About Sororities
A “Home Away from Home”
Many college women seek something more than just classes and
casual friends. A sorority is a group of women bound together by
common principles, goals, and experiences. Immediately upon joining
a sorority, you belong to a group that is sincerely interested in you and
your well-being.
During the recruitment process, you and the sororities on your campus
will mutually determine the group that best shares your goals and
ideals—the women you want to share friendships with for a lifetime.
Rewards of Membership
Sisterhood—for your collegiate years, and for a lifetime as you seek
connections when moving to a new city, by joining an alumnae group,
or by choosing to serve chapters in advisory roles.
Scholarship—for academic support from sisters who will encourage
your success, study together, and share their course experiences.
Leadership—for countless opportunities to lead others, growing your
professional skillset.
Philanthropy—for joining in community service that makes a true
impact.
Social—for friendship, laughter, and fun that transforms your college experience into lifelong memories.
Responsibilities of Membership
Commitment—your promise to uphold your sorority’s standards and support your sisters.
Time Investment—your attendance at chapter meetings and events, spending time toward meeting your sorority’s goals and building your sisterhood.
Financial Investment—your expenditures, including your badge, national dues, chapter dues, and housing/dining fees (if applicable). The cost of sorority membership varies widely among groups and campuses.
The sorority will provide all costs to you prior to your final decision to join. Sororities strive to make membership as affordable as possible. Many members hold jobs, receive financial aid, or earn scholarships.
